Bridging Heritage Textile Engineering & Contemporary Luxury Pret

An alumnus of the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi, Virat Koomar (recorded in public trade records as Virat Kumar) operates at the intersection of material research, garment manufacturing infrastructure, and brand design.

As founder and director of Noida-based parent enterprise Zinnia India (B-44, Sector 58, Noida), Virat established multi-factory production capabilities specializing in scarves, stoles, shawls, tunics, resortwear, and embellished garments. Over two decades of export trade, Zinnia India has delivered handcrafted textile collections across key international destinations, including the USA, UK, Spain, France, Italy, Denmark, and Norway.

Synthesizing this B2B manufacturing backbone with modern silhouette drapes, Virat created Voraaya — a contemporary Indian B2C fashion label bringing refined pret and occasionwear directly to discerning clients. Under trademark application V VIRAT KOOMAR (Class 25, Application No. 6195950, Status: Accepted & Advertised), his design practice continues to elevate Indian artisanal weave structures into global fashion dialogues.

MY STORY

FROM 0 TO HERE

From an idea to a house built around textiles, design and possibility.

Every journey begins before there is a name for it.

For Virat Koomar, the journey began with an interest in fashion, textiles and the possibilities of Indian craftsmanship. That interest gradually became a professional direction, and eventually a business built around the belief that Indian textiles could have a meaningful place in contemporary fashion and international markets.

After his connection with NIFT Delhi, the focus moved from learning about design to understanding how design could actually be developed, produced and brought to the world.

In December 2004, that journey took a defining step with the beginning of The Zinnia India.

What followed was not simply the growth of a company. It was an education in everything that exists behind a finished garment — fabric development, craftsmanship, production, people, suppliers, buyers, export markets and the discipline required to turn an idea into something real.

Over the years, the work evolved from individual products and textile development into a broader understanding of fashion and manufacturing.

Recognition followed, including export achievements and industry awards. But the more important journey was the accumulation of knowledge — understanding materials more deeply, working closely with production, studying how textiles behave, and seeing how Indian craftsmanship can be interpreted for a contemporary wearer.

Today, that experience forms the foundation for the next chapter.

Virat Koomar is building beyond a single business — developing a design-led ecosystem where textiles, fashion, manufacturing and contemporary expression meet.

From the first step in 2004 to the present, the journey remains driven by the same question:

“What can Indian textile knowledge become when it is approached with design, discipline and a contemporary point of view?”
