cturing and consumer fashion has influenced my approach to brand building.

A fashion business needs both sides.

Product needs substance. Brand needs meaning.

Without a good product, branding cannot create lasting value. Without a strong brand, even a good product can struggle to create recognition and loyalty.

1. Why Indian Craftsmanship Still Matters

Technology has changed fashion dramatically, but craftsmanship remains important.

India’s textile heritage contains an enormous range of techniques, materials and regional traditions. These traditions provide designers with a creative foundation that is difficult to replicate elsewhere.

The opportunity, however, is not simply to preserve traditional techniques exactly as they have always existed.

The more interesting challenge is to reinterpret them for contemporary consumers.

A traditional textile can become part of modern resortwear. An established craft technique can be incorporated into a contemporary accessory. Indian materials and techniques can be presented through a design language that feels relevant internationally.

This relationship between heritage and contemporary design is something I continue to explore through fashion, textiles and research.

2. What Global Markets Teach Indian Fashion

Working across international markets changes the way you look at a product.

Different markets have different expectations around quality, design, functionality, pricing and presentation. A product that works in one market may need to be approached differently in another.

International exposure therefore provides more than export opportunities.

It creates market knowledge.

Through Zinnia India’s experience across international markets, including products shipped to more than 48 countries, I have seen how important consistency, communication and product understanding are when working with global customers.

For Indian businesses looking to grow internationally, manufacturing capability alone is not enough.

They also need to understand the customer they are building for.

3. The Future of Fashion Will Be More Connected

The boundaries between fashion, technology, manufacturing and consumer culture are becoming increasingly blurred.

Consumers discover products through social platforms. Artificial intelligence is influencing discovery and styling. Designers can communicate directly with audiences. Manufacturers can work with brands across borders. Younger consumers are increasingly interested in individuality, craftsmanship, resale and the story behind products.

This is changing what it means to build a fashion company.

The future may belong less to businesses that simply produce more products and more to businesses that understand why their products matter.

That requires a combination of creativity and commercial thinking.

It requires design, but also manufacturing knowledge.

It requires heritage, but also innovation.

And it requires an understanding of both the product and the person who eventually wears it.

4. My Perspective on Building Fashion Businesses

My work across Zinnia India and Voraaya has given me an opportunity to see fashion from different sides of the industry.

One side is deeply connected to textiles, manufacturing and international business.

The other is connected to consumers, design, branding and contemporary fashion.

I believe the strongest opportunities emerge when these perspectives meet.

India does not need to choose between craftsmanship and technology, or between heritage and modernity.

It can build businesses around both.

The next generation of Indian fashion companies has the opportunity to take India’s textile knowledge, manufacturing capabilities and creative traditions and transform them into globally relevant brands.

That is the larger direction I am interested in exploring through my work.

5. Looking Ahead

Fashion will continue to change.

Trends will come and go. Technology will transform how products are designed and discovered. Consumer expectations will evolve. New brands will emerge from unexpected places.

But some fundamentals will remain.

Good design matters.

Product quality matters.

Craftsmanship matters.

Understanding the customer matters.

And building something with a clear point of view matters.

My journey across textiles, manufacturing and consumer fashion has made me increasingly interested in that intersection.

How can Indian fashion businesses build products that carry the depth of their origins while competing confidently in global markets?

That is a question I continue to explore through my work as Virat Koomar, Founder & Creative Director.
